Last checked: 16 October 2026, against Subway UK's current menu. Menus change, so always confirm with staff on the day.
At Subway you build your own sub, so going vegan is mostly about choosing the right filling, bread, sauce and cheese. Most of the salad is vegan, but two of the breads and the standard cheese aren't, so it's worth knowing what to ask for.
What's vegan at Subway
The vegan sub
The Veggie Patty is currently the only vegan filling on Subway's UK menu. You can have it as a 6-inch or footlong sub, in a wrap or as a salad bowl.
Earlier vegan launches, including the Smashed Falafel trial in January 2026 and the limited-time BBQ Pulled Plant in June 2026, are no longer on the menu. If you'd rather skip the patty, you can build a salad-only sub, but ask for no cheese, as the standard cheese isn't vegan.
Vegan breads
- Italian White
- 9-Grain Wheat
- Hearty Italian
- Gluten Free
- Plain Tortilla Wrap
Avoid: Italian Herb & Cheese and Honey & Oat, which aren't vegan.
Vegan sauces and toppings
- Garlic & Herb, Sweet Onion, Sticky Sweet Chilli, Teriyaki, Sriracha, Salsa, Marinara and Tomato Ketchup
- Caramelised Red Onion in Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic Infused Oil
- Crispy Onions, Multi-Seed Mix, Southwest Seasoning, chilli flakes, sea salt and mixed peppercorns
Salad
Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mixed peppers, onion, carrot, spinach, sweetcorn, olives, pickles and jalapeños are all vegan.
Sides and sweets
- Hash Browns
- Crinkle Wedges
- Double Chocolate Cookie
Drinks
Most of the bottled and fountain soft drinks are vegan. Subway stores don't usually offer plant milk, so take your tea or coffee black.
How to order with confidence
- Say "vegan" at the start. It helps the team steer you away from the cheese, the two non-vegan breads and any creamy sauces.
- Check the patty is the vegan one. Ask for the Veggie Patty by name, and if your store has any doubt, ask to see the allergen information.
- Ask for fresh gloves. Fillings and salad sit side by side on the counter, and the same knife and toaster may be used for meat subs. Most staff will happily change gloves and wipe the board if you ask.
- Check the app for your store. Subway's vegan range has changed a lot in 2026, so check what your store has before you go.
Allergies: vegan isn't the same as allergy-safe. If you have an allergy, tell the team and check Subway's allergen information before ordering.
