KFC's UK vegan menu has one item, the Vegan Burger, which you can order on its own or with a drink. The key thing to know is that the classic sides, including the fries and gravy, aren't vegan.
What's vegan at KFC
The Vegan Burger
A Quorn mycoprotein fillet coated in KFC's 11 herbs and spices, with iceberg lettuce and vegan mayo in a glazed bun.
KFC says the fillet is fried in vegetable oil before it reaches the restaurant, then finished in the restaurant ovens, and that it's never cooked in the same oil as its chicken. Teams use separate utensils and storage for vegan ingredients.
It isn't available everywhere. Some restaurants run a limited menu because of kitchen space, so check the restaurant finder or app for the vegan icon before you go.
Vegan Burger with a drink
This is KFC's vegan meal deal: the Vegan Burger with a soft drink. There's no vegan box meal with fries.
Sides
No sides are on KFC's current vegan menu. KFC has previously said its beans and corn on the cob were vegan-friendly, so ask in your restaurant whether that's still the case.
Not vegan
- Gravy contains milk
- Mash is made with milk
- Coleslaw is made with an egg-based mayo
- Fries: KFC has said its fries aren't suitable for vegans because they're cooked in shared oil. Ask in your restaurant if you'd like to know more.
Sauces and drinks
The burger comes with vegan mayo. KFC's kiosks show a vegan symbol on suitable items, which is the easiest way to check anything else you'd like to add. Most of the soft drinks are vegan.
How to order with confidence
- Order the Vegan Burger as it comes. KFC warns that adding extras may mean your burger is no longer vegan.
- Order it with a drink, not a box meal. The box meals come with fries, which aren't vegan.
- Use the kiosk or app. The vegan symbols make it easy to build a meal without asking about every item.
Allergies: vegan isn't the same as allergy-safe. The Quorn fillet contains mycoprotein, which some people react to. If you have an allergy, check KFC's allergen information before ordering.
